Social Sundays is a bi-weekly post sharing tips, ideas, resources, and products for teaching social studies. If you have questions or think there is something I should share, you can leave me a message in the comments below or at the store in the question and answer section.
As you prepare for the new semester, here are some ideas to think about based on what you have told me you need the most help with:
- How can I use stations to add variety to my secondary classroom? 8 tips to get you started.
- What can I do with the civil rights movement to keep it fresh? Role play the leaders to start the discussion.
- How can I stop lecturing? My students are bored and so am I. Skip the lecture and use stations, gallery walks, project based learning, scavenger hunts and more.
- How do I use interactive notebooks effectively? Tips for integrating interactive notebooks.
- What about the cold war? There are several ways to look at the cold war from the proxy wars such as Vietnam but also the interesting social and cultural events like the protests of the 1960s.
Have more questions? Let me know and make sure to subscribe to the blog. More posts coming including on specific topics and units.
Have a wonderful holiday and a happy new year. See you in 2018 (New posts start January 7th)!
